Just Monika by IKHCrHere’s another example of the ‘instant gratifictation’ syndrome. It makes me sad for my cohort. One piece of advice on the Steam Community Discussions page is: Search the forums as your question or similar may already have been asked and answered.

I’m not sure if anyone in the history of Steam has ever done this, save me. In Act Three, several times I hint about a certain thing to [player] so he can progress the game. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve the new topic “How do I delete” …

This only proves certain critics never actually read the forums and could have avoided shooting oneself in the foot.

These ♥♥♥♥ing undertale inspired game mechanics man…
Case in point: Please let more than 1 person play this game without spoiling it for someone else.
(why even feature multiple files if this flowey♥♥♥♥♥mechanic is present?)

So picture this: Immagine that you wanna play this really popular game without knowing anything about it, your sibling also recommends it to you and already played it in the same device you both use right?
now, you go in. make a new file to try it out, buuut! as soon as you see the title screen there’s already some spoilers that you weren’t intended to see. okay… whatever?
then as soon as the game starts, (what i’ll refer to as the undertale syndrome now). a recurring character that’s synonymous of 4th wall breaking gameplay where it keeps track of the events that happened in a different or former save file. decides to show up in the file of this new player.

This has been an issue that none of these types of games seem to try to address…traditionally.
I’m Not here to say that this is a garbage game mechanic because quite frankly its refreshing for these japanese inspired games. All I want to do, is Illustrate this issue and ask if there’s a workaround for players such as myself who just want to enjoy the game as everyone else.
Thanks in advance and sorry for the rant.

again, verify game cache. Much easier than uninstalling reinstalling the game

Man, you hardcore gamers with Undertale Derangement Syndrome give me the ♥♥♥♥♥. First of all, your issue might affect 1 in 122042 people? And there’s a workaround but you’re too ♥♥♥♥ing lazy to apply it?

And why did these necros surface again?

It is the responsibility of the previous player to ensure that the game is reset to it’s initial state before having a new player play it. Due to the nature of the game the main menu with the new game option cannot always be present, but you always have access to deleting the file called ‘firstrun’ in the game folder to put it back to normal.
